The story behind binding screws

Posted by Matthew Painter on

Binding Screws became popular in the 19th century for use in bookbinding and leather work.  They were ideally suited to traditional ledger books used by all businesses of that era.  Today they are popular as a distinctive binding method for books and swatches.

Our binding screws retain the original character and are still turned from solid brass as they would have been 200 years ago.  In addition to the standard two part style, we also supply double base binding screws which give greater stability when the book is bound to a rigid base - typically where information is displayed in a retail setting.
